NEW YORK, July 24, 2012

NEW YORK, July 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Harvard University researchers’ review of fluoride/brain studies concludes “our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children’s neurodevelopment.” It was published online July 20 in Environmental Health Perspectives, a US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences‘ journal (1), reports the NYS Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. (NYSCOF)

“The children in high fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ than those who lived in low fluoride areas,” write Choi et al.

Further, the EPA says fluoride is a chemical “with substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity.”

Fluoride (fluosilicic acid) is added to US water supplies at approximately 1 part per million attempting to reduce tooth decay.

Water was the only fluoride source in the studies reviewed and was based on high water fluoride levels. However, they point out research by Ding (2011) suggested that low water fluoride levels had significant negative associations with children’s intelligence.

Choi et al. write, “Although fluoride may cause neurotoxicity in animal models and acute fluoride poisoning causes neurotoxicity in adults, very little is known of its effects on children’s neurodevelopment. They recommend more brain/fluoride research on children and at individual-level doses.

“It’s senseless to keep subjecting our children to this ongoing fluoridation experiment to satisfy the political agenda of special-interest groups,” says attorney Paul Beeber, NYSCOF President.  “Even if fluoridation reduced cavities, is tooth health more important than brain health? It’s time to put politics aside and stop artificial fluoridation everywhere,” says Beeber.

After reviewing fluoride toxicological data, the NRC reported in 2006, “It’s apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.”

Choi’s team writes, “Fluoride readily crosses the placenta. Fluoride exposure to the developing brain, which is much more susceptible to injury caused by toxicants than is the mature brain, may possibly lead to damage of a permanent nature.”

Medical News: Cat Litter Parasite Tied to Suicide Risk in New Moms -MedPage Today

Think about how wild this is: scientists have identified a parasite that can make someone suicidal. Without psychologically influencing someone, humans can make other humans want to hurt themselves. Let me say it one more time; we can increase the likelihood of suicide attempts in certain individuals merely by exposing them to a parasite. This is an utterly overwhelming concept to me.

Woman Gives Birth, Smokes Bath Salts, Violence Ensues; What is Really Going on Here?

7 Jul

Picture from clevelandleader.com

What would possess a woman who had just given birth to smoke bath salts? I suppose I should ask Carla Murphy, who did just that, then stripped off her clothes, tried to bite a cop, and assaulted a nurse before being handcuffed and arrested. An injection of the anti-psychotic Haldol had no effect on the intoxicated new mom. What is going on here?

The “designer drug” is made of synthetic cathinones such as mephedrone (popular in the UK) and methylenedioxypyrovalerone or MDPV, (more popular in the U.S.), and produces a stimulant effect, similar to amphetamine and cocaine. Alarmingly, news reports are claiming it causes psychosis and violent behavior, including cannibalism or expressing the desire to bite and eat humans.

MDPV was first created in 1969 but was not sold until 2004, and mephedrone was first synthesized in 1929 but was not available for purchase until about 2007. I’m curious to know if, besides the never ending need to find legal mind-altering substances, there is a reason  that these drugs emerged for sale at these times.

From product to product, the chemical compositions can vary widely, and products with the same name can contain different compounds. “Designer drugs” are created using substances that have yet to be made illegal. Because they are so new, little is known about the drugs and their long-term effects, making them more dangerous . As soon as one “designer drug” is outlawed, another compound emerges to take its place, perpetuating a vicious cycle of dangerous substances seeping into society. I wonder if there may be a smaller market for such risky legal highs if drugs were decriminalized, or even legalized.

Largest Health Care Fraud Case In U.S. History (HuffPost) & The Sad Irony

2 Jul

This article is about a pharmaceutical company that plead guilty to not disclosing important safety information about drugs, and for promoting two popular drugs, Paxil and Welbutrin, for unapproved uses. The irony is that the FDA approves drugs that kill 100,000 people a year, and allows accelerated approval of drugs, which then allows the drugs to be sold to the public before they have completed clinical testing.

It’s even more ironic when the Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole said they “will not tolerate health care fraud,” considering Obamacare will now be forcing Americans to pay taxes to insurance companies, or one could say, incur penalties for not purchasing a government product. Either way you phrase it, it is wrong, with the bill being sold to Americans under the fraudulence of the fake liberal Obama and his endless list of broken promises and lies. Add to that the fact that Liz Fowler, VP of Wellpoint, one of the biggest insurance companies, had a large part in writing the health care reform bill.  Politico.com said

“As a senior aide to Baucus, she directs the Finance Committee health care staff, enforces deadlines on drafting bill language and coordinates with the White House and other lawmakers. She also troubleshoots, identifying policy and political problems before they ripen. Max Baucus thanked her in writing.

FDLaction.com had the following to say about Fowler:

“I wish to single out one person, and that one person is sitting next to me. Her name is Liz Fowler. Liz Fowler is my chief health counsel. Liz Fowler has put my health care team together. Liz Fowler worked for me many years ago, left for the private sector, and then came back when she realized she could be there at the creation of health care reform because she wanted that to be, in a certain sense, her profession lifetime goal. She put together the White Paper last November–2008–the 87-page document which became the basis, the foundation, the blueprint from which almost all health care measures in all bills on both sides of the aisle came.

Rudy Eugene: No Bath Salts, Only Marijuana, Found In Face-Eater Toxicology Tests | HuffingtonPost

27 Jun
Rudy Eugene Toxicology Drug Tests No Bath Salts

It wasn’t bath salts.

According to a full toxicology report released Wednesday afternoon by the Miami-Dade medical examiner, the only drug detected in the lifeless body of infamous Miami face-chewer Rudy Eugene was marijuana.

“The department’s toxicology laboratory has identified the active components of marijuana,” the medical examiner said in a statement, according to NBC Miami. “The laboratory has tested for but not detected any other street drugs, alcohol or prescription drugs…This includes cocaine, LSD, amphetamines (Extasy, Meth and others), phencyclidine (PCP or Angel Dust), heroin, oxycodone, Xanax, synthetic marijuana (Spice), and many other similar compounds.”

CBS Miami reports that the medical examiner’s office sought the assistance of an “outside forensic toxicology reference laboratory” to help confirm the absence of common ingredients of bath salts, a synthetic amphetamine cocktail blamed in severalrecentincidents that bear some similarity to Eugene’s attack.

“Within the limits of current technology by both laboratories,” stated a press release from Medical Examiner Dr. Bruce Hyma, “marijuana is the only drug identified in the body of Mr. Rudy Eugene.”

The report did not address previously reported autopsy findings of what appeared to be undigested pills in Eugene’s stomach, according to the Miami Herald, and an expert told the Associate Press marijuana alone was not likely to cause such an attack.

“The problem today is that there is an almost an infinite number of chemical substances out there that can trigger unusual behavior,” said Dr. Bruce Goldberger, Professor and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida.Goldberger said that the medical examiner’s office in Miami is known for doing thorough work and that he’s confident they and the independent lab covered as much ground as possible. But it’s nearly impossible for toxicology testing to keep pace with new formulations of synthetic drugs.

“There are many of these synthetic drugs that we currently don’t have the methodology to test on, and that is not the fault of the toxicology lab. The challenge today for the toxicology lab is to stay on top of these new chemicals and develop methodologies for them, but it’s very difficult and very expensive.” Goldberger said. “There is no one test or combination of tests that can detect every possible substance out there.”
