News That Proves We’re Screwed – The Fall of The Republic UPDATED

30 Aug

The corrupt shadow government is unveiled a little more each week.

Two Cheers for Syrian Islamists (ForeignPolicy.com)

It is not a secret that the U.S. government is funding Syrian rebels, who include members of Al Qaeda, but this may be the first time they have openly called for “two cheers” in praise of the radical Islamic Jihadists fighting against the Assad regime. I find it odd that the title is so complimentary, yet in the article it specifically says, “Of course, Syrian Islamists are no friends of the United States–merely the enemies of one of its enemies.” This is like smiling while delivering horrible news of betrayal. When I read that, I got this picture in my head of a woman smiling as she says to her friend “Let’s go celebrate your marriage with ice cream! Of course, your husband is cheating on you.” Backwards is forwards, up is down, wrong is right, logic is insanity.

Bill Gross: “Normal” Economic Growth Impossible Now (moneymorning.com)

“Legendary market maven Bill Gross, the so-called “King of Bonds,” said investors will flat-out lose money if they continue employing the “buy and hold” strategies of the past.

“In his August Investment Outlook, Gross told investors that “financial repression, QEs of all sorts and sizes” and low interest rates will “dominate the timescape” for decades, maybe longer.

Investors must adjust to the new world order to avoid being the loser in this zero-growth environment, Gross warned.

“Ultimately, Gross said, the stock market’s historical, inflation-adjusted 6.6% annual growth rate is unsustainable.

“Gross, of course, is a bond man.

“In March, he launched an ETF version of his popular Pimco Total Return Fund (PTTRX) – the world’s biggest mutual fund, with more than $260 billion in assets. The Pimco Total Return ETF (NYSE: BOND) quickly attracted $2.1 billion in total deposits and has outpaced the S&P 500 by more than 5% so far.

“But even bonds – both government-backed and corporate – can’t escape the realities of a no-growth economy.

According to global economic trend forecaster Chris Martenson, a former VP of a Fortune 300 company, the historical growth rates investors have come to expect – in every asset class – are no longer mathematically possible.

“Right now, there are dangerous economic constraints,” he said, “mainly created by failed government policies, which show exponential growth in our markets is impossible.”

Exclusive: U.S. banks told to make plans for preventing collapse | Reuters (chicagotribune.com)

(Reuters) – U.S. regulators directed five of the country’s biggest banks, including Bank of America Corp and Goldman Sachs Group Inc, to develop plans for staving off collapse if they faced serious problems, emphasizing that the banks could not count on government help.

The two-year-old program, which has been largely secret until now, is in addition to the “living wills” the banks crafted to help regulators dismantle them if they actually do fail. It shows how hard regulators are working to ensure that banks have plans for worst-case scenarios and can act rationally in times of distress.

Brandon J. Raub, Former Marine, Detained After Anti-Government Facebook Postings (Huffington Post)

Marine Veteran Brandon Raub Sentenced To Up To 30 Days In Psych Ward Over Facebook Posts (businessinsider.com)

Excerpt:

“Lawyers from The Rutherford Institute represented Brandon Raub during the three-hour hearing today at the John Randolph Medical Center and released a statement, saying Raub has been ordered to “up to 30 days’ further confinement in a VA psych ward” after “government officials againpointed to Raub’s Facebook posts as the sole reason for their concern and for his continued incarceration.”

“According to Raub’s mother, authorities from the FBI, Secret Service and Chesterfield County PD came to their door on Thursday evening, questioned Raub about his Facebook posts, then handcuffed him and placed him in a Chesterfield PD squad car before taking him to John Randolph Psychiatric Hospital in Hopewell, Va.”

“Both the FBI and Secret Service said Raub was not arrested or charged, but the Rutherford Institute statement points out that “if the police have put handcuffs on you and you’re being held against your will, that qualifies as an arrest.”

Activist Richard Aoki named as informant | Center for Investigative Reporting

“The man who helped arm the Black Panthers in the 1960s turns out to have been an FBI informant, according to FBI files uncovered by journalist Seth Rosenfeld.

“A mysterious character who sported sunglasses even at night, Richard Aoki was a militant leader of the Third World strike and an activist with the Asian American Political Alliance at UC Berkeley.

“The revelation about Aoki’s role as an informant emerged from FBI files and an interview with the agent who says he recruited Aoki. Rosenfeld spent the last 30 years researching the history of the FBI and radicals in Berkeley for his new book, “Subversives: The FBI’s War on Student Radicals, and Reagan’s Rise to Power,” publishing tomorrow.”

Activist Richard Aoki named as informant

Seth Rosenfeld, Center for Investigative Reporting

“The man who gave the Black Panther Party some of its first firearms and weapons training – which preceded fatal shootouts with Oakland police in the turbulent 1960s – was an undercover FBI informer, according to a former bureau agent and an FBI report.

One of the Bay Area’s most prominent radical activists of the era, Richard Masato Aoki was known as a fierce militant who touted his street-fighting abilities. He was a member of several radical groups before joining and arming the Panthers, whose members received international notoriety for brandishing weapons during patrols of the Oakland police and a protest at the state Capitol.

Aoki went on to work for 25 years as a teacher, counselor and administrator at the Peralta Community College District, and after his suicide in 2009, he was revered as a fearless radical.

But unbeknownst to his fellow activists, Aoki had served as an FBI intelligence informant, covertly filing reports on a wide range of Bay Area political groups, according to the bureau agent who recruited him.

That agent, Burney Threadgill Jr., recalled that he approached Aoki in the late 1950s, about the time Aoki was graduating from Berkeley High School. He asked Aoki if he would join left-wing groups and report to the FBI.

“He was my informant. I developed him,” Threadgill said in an interview. “He was one of the best sources we had.”

New FBI Unit’s Mission To Spy on Americans, NSA’s Surveillance Power Expands, Google’s Info Gold Mine

IMPORTANT! Al Qaeda Bomb Plot: Would-Be Bomber Was CIA Informant; Break Down of US Terrorist Involvement

Al Qaeda Bomb Plot: Would-Be Bomber Was CIA Informant

Huffington Post

USA Today

In this video  from USA Today, they say the FBI is examining the bomb, which was an upgrade to the device used in the underwear bomb “attack” in 2010.  They also say  “it is not clear who made the bomb,” and suspect it was the mastermind responsible for other Al Qaeda bomb creations.  They said they didn’t know the identity of the would-be (US-employed) bomber, meaning they were “getting better at disrupting these plots” and that no airplane tickets had been purchased, nor had a place for the attack been decided.  Today it is announced it was our CIA.

Exactly what kind of  “plot” did the US so brilliantly “foil” if a plot really had yet to exist?  They merely had a bomb given to them because they did what they do best: lie.  Of course it’s likely they were the ones who made it, considering that they have done it in the past.   Our government has done this over and over (New York Times), and then bragged about their competence.  Listen to the blatant lie told by Hilary Clinton, that “the plot itself indicates that these terrorists keep trying, uh, they keep trying to devise more and more perverse and terrible ways to kill innocent people.”  If it was our C.I.A. informant who had the bomb in his possession, and there was never a threat of it getting onto a plane, why did officials need to announce that it would not have been detected at the airport by a metal detector because it contained no metal,  the new body scanners at SOME airports may not have detected it, and the only guaranteed way to find it would have been through the groin groping?  What security procedures will be next, cavity checks for all?  Or are they trying to improve public confidence in government’s ability to stop terrorists before they get on airplanes because they may make airport procedures less criminal?

FBI: We Need Wiretap-Ready Web Sites – Now

See full story here:  FBI: We Need Wiretap-Ready Web Sites – Now

Excerpts:

“CNET learns the FBI is quietly pushing its plan to force surveillance backdoors on social networks, VoIP, and Web e-mail providers, and that the bureau is asking Internet companies not to oppose a law making those backdoors mandatory.”

“The FBI’s proposal would amend a 1994 law, called the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, or CALEA, that currently applies only to telecommunications providers, not Web companies. The Federal Communications Commission extended CALEA in 2004 to apply to broadband networks.”

“In February 2011, CNET was the first to report that then-FBI general counsel Valerie Caproni was planning to warn Congress of what the bureau calls its “Going Dark” problem, meaning that its surveillance capabilities may diminish as technology advances.  Caproni singled out “Web-based e-mail, social-networking sites, and peer-to-peer communications” as problems that have left the FBI “increasingly unable” to conduct the same kind of wiretapping it could in the past.”

“In addition to the FBI’s legislative proposal, there are indications that the Federal Communications Commission is considering reinterpreting CALEA to demand that products that allow video or voice chat over the Internet — from Skype to Google Hangouts to Xbox Live — include surveillance backdoors to help the FBI with its “Going Dark” program . CALEA applies to technologies that are a “substantial replacement” for the telephone system.”

“Ross Schulman, public policy and regulatory counsel at the Computer and Communications Industry Association, adds: “New methods of communication should not be subject to a government green light before they can be used.”
