Bernanke’s QE3 Announcement in 90 seconds (CNN video)

From CNNMoney

“NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The Federal Reserve announced plans to unleash more stimulus Thursday, in its third attempt at a controversial program to rev up the U.S. economy.

“The policy, known as quantitative easing and often abbreviated as QE3, entails buying $40 billion in mortgage-backed securities each month. The end date remains up in the air, as the Fed will re-evaluate the strength of the economy in coming months.

“The Fed is wasting no time. The purchases begin Friday and are expected to add up to only $23 billion for the remainder of September.

“The bond-buying policy “should put downward pressure on longer-term interest rates, support mortgage markets, and help to make broader financial conditions more accommodative,” the Fed’s official statement said.

“Meanwhile, the Fed will continue its existing policy known as Operation Twist. Together the two programs will add $85 billion in long-term bonds to the Fed’s balance sheet each month.

“In addition, the Fed also indicated that it plans to keep short-term interest rates at “exceptionally low levels” until mid-2015. Previously, the Fed had forecast rates would remain low until late 2014.

“The central bank’s main objective is to lower interest rates and mortgage rates in particular. By keeping rates low, the Fed hopes to fuel more spending and eventually, more hiring.

“Related: QE3 won’t create jobs

“The Fed has been trying to stimulate the economy for over three years now, and has exhausted its usual tool by keeping interest rates near zero since late 2008. Quantitative easing is an unconventional way of trying to lower rates further.

“But given that the unemployment rate has remained above 8%, the Fed is still not satisfied.

“The weak job market should concern every American. It imposes hardship on people and a waste of human skills and talents,” Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said in a press conference later Thursday.”

Nurse who treated Colorado theater shooting victims drowns; Was the shooting a false flag?

27 Aug

Fox News reports that a nurse who helped treat the victims in the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting drowned while vacationing in Iowa. When someone connected to a possible false flag attack goes swimming one night while on vacation and is found dead the next morning, it is a good idea to take note and put it in the “Just for the Record” folder. But that’s not all that is interesting about nurse Jennifer Gallagher, age forty six. She treated one of the shooting victims in the neurological intensive unit, which she helped open. She was also one of the hospital staff members who met with Obama when he visited Aurora after the massacre on July 20th. Again, at this time none of this means anything more than exactly what is said, but there is no harm in book marking this nugget of information.

Why is the Aurora theater shooting a possible false flag? See the links and videos below.

This is not the countenance I’d expect of a cold-blooded, calculating criminal. AP

Miller: Aurora shooter must have practiced  (cbsnews.com)

(CBS News) The well-armed shooter in the Aurora movie theater massacre had a hit ratio twice what a police officer might achieve engaging with armed assailants in a street setting.

That suggests, says CBS News senior correspondent John Miller, that the suspect – who is believed to have planned his assault with precision –  practiced shooting prior to the attack on the theater audience last Friday.

James Holmes, who made his first court appearance Monday, will face charges in the deaths of 12 people at the Century 16 theater. Fifty-eight others were also injured in the spree, most by gunfire.

GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (NNS) — Base officials at Naval Station (NS) Guantanamo Bay, Cuba set Condition of Readiness (COR) level 3 in preparation for tropical storm Isaac, Aug. 23.

COR conditions 5-1 notify base residents and EOC personnel on proper preparatory actions required to properly secure the installation.

COR 3 is set when destructive winds sustain greater than 50 knots and are anticipated to reach the installation within 48 hours.

According to NS Guantanamo Bay, Cuba Commanding Officer Capt. J.R. Nettleton, as the storm pushes rain and heavy winds toward the installation, preparations on the island include closing the hangars, securing buildings, moving people who are at risk into sturdier buildings, and hauling boats out of the water.

“Making the choice to be prepared is one I’m always going to make, because it’s about lives,” said Nettleton.

Two people killed in Empire State shooting: New York police source

NEW YORK | Fri Aug 24, 2012 10:09am EDT

(Reuters) – Two people were killed and at least eight were wounded in a shooting outside the landmark Empire State Building in New York City on Friday, according to a police source.

One of the dead was the shooter, the source said, adding that there was no apparent link to terrorism.

“I heard the gunshots,” said Dahlia Anister, 33, who works at an office near the 102-story Empire State Building. “It was like pop, pop, pop. It was definitely in a bunch.”

The victims were shot shortly after 9 a.m. on the sidewalk on Fifth Avenue outside the building in Midtown Manhattan.

The shooting broke out at the height of the tourist season outside one of New York City’s most popular attractions, startling tourists and commuters in one of the busiest areas of the city.

The building is two blocks from Pennsylvania Station, one of New York City’s main transportation hubs.

The United States has had two other mass shooting cases this summer. On July 20, James Holmes, 24, allegedly opened fire at a midnight screening of the Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colorado, killing 12 people and wounding 58.

On August 5, a gunman killed six people and critically wounded three at a Sikh temple outside Milwaukee before police shot him dead in an attack authorities treated as an act of domestic terrorism.

The Empire State Building was the world’s tallest building for 40 years from its completion in 1931 until construction of the World Trade Center. Following the September 11, 2001, attacks, it was again the tallest building in the city.

Couple handcuffed, jailed for dancing on subway platform: lawsuit – New York Post

8 Jul

Picture from dailymail.com

New York Post –

First smoking, then soda — now there’s no dancing in New York City.

Caroline Stern, 55, and her boyfriend George Hess, 54, claim they were handcuffed for having happy feet on the platform of the Columbus Circle subway station — and spent 23 hours in custody as a result.

“I’m a dentist, and I’m 55, and I got arrested for dancing,” Stern told The Post. “It was absolutely ridiculous that this happened.”

It was nearly midnight when Stern and Hess, a film-industry prop master, headed home last July from Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night’s Swing. As they waited for the train, a musician started playing steel drums on the nearly empty platform and Stern and Hess began to feel the beat.

“We were doing the Charleston,” Stern said. That’s when two police officers approached and pulled a “Footloose.”

“They said, ‘What are you doing?’ and we said, ‘We’re dancing,’ ” she recalled. “And they said, ‘You can’t do that on the platform.’ ”

The cops asked for ID, but when Stern could only produce a credit card, the officers ordered the couple to go with them — even though the credit card had the dentist’s picture and signature.

When Hess began trying to film the encounter, things got ugly, Stern said.

“We brought out the camera, and that’s when they called backup,” she said. “That’s when eight ninja cops came from out of nowhere.”

Hess was allegedly tackled to the platform floor, and cuffs were slapped on both of them. The initial charge, according to Stern, was disorderly conduct for “impeding the flow of traffic.”

“There was nobody on the platform. There were, like, three people,” she said.

The charges, including resisting arrest, were later dropped. The couple has filed a Manhattan federal court suit against the city for unspecified damages.

“If you are surrounded by good musicians, that’s going to make you want to dance,” Stern said. “The musician who is playing is legal, but . . . we’re illegal?”

The avid hoofers frequently go out on the town to boogie.

“When you’re waiting for the subway late at night, there’s not much to do but dance and celebrate life,” she said.

The city Law Department is reviewing the court papers, a spokeswoman said.

Austin Police Dept Corruption Exposed

8 Jul

If you don’t know the Antonio Buehler story, I have posted some information below this new video of Antonio Buehler addressing Austin officials. Make sure to see his credentials at the bottom. He’s a CEO, a teacher, a war veteran, a Stanford and West Point graduate with accolades and he works with disadvantaged children. The Austin Police Department’s lies are helping no one. Their denial of any wrongdoing and refusal to release the dash cam video will only continue to encourage an antagonistic relationship between the community and the police. The more animosity and resentment the public feels towards the cops, the more danger police put themselves in.

The original news report.

You may not be a fan of Alex Jones, but the following is the most comprehensive interview.

After midnight on New Years of this year, war veteran Antonio Buehler witnessed Austin police officers being unnecessarily rough with a female at a gas station.

The police had pulled over a car containing two females and began to question the driver. The passenger yelled to her friend that she did not have to take a sobriety test. The police claimed the passenger’s right to free speech was an interference. One of the two cops, Oborski, ripped the female out of the car, eliciting a scream from the victim. She was then cuffed and held by both cops in a “pain compliance” move that reminds me of strappado, a medieval Inquisition torture technique that was used in torture chambers.

Note: A form of strappado  was used by abusive U.S. military personnel at Abu Ghraib, but was referred to as a “Palestinian Hanging.” It resulted in the death of Manadel al-Jamadi in 2003. This technique not only has potential to dislocate shoulders, causing long-term tendon, ligament, and nerve damage, but in some forms of the technique, the victim also risks having their shoulders broken.

Wikipedia describes strappado as:

A form of torture in which the victim’s hands are first tied behind his or her back and suspended in the air by means of a rope attached to wrists, which most likely dislocates both arms. Weights may be added to the body to intensify the effect and increase the pain.

When Antonio saw this happening, he pulled out his mobile phone and began taking photos.

“We pull out our cameras and try to take pictures with our cell phones,” he said. “She sees me taking pictures and says, ‘please, take pictures and videos.’

“I asked the cop, ‘why are you hurting her, she didn’t do anything wrong, stop hurting her.’

“They pick her up and walk her right past us. Oborski then turns around walks back towards me.”

“’He said, ‘who do you think you are?’
