Arrested For Spitting, Is this Singapore or the U.S.A.? Neither (And other ways we’re screwed)

6 Jun

Read “Florida Man arrested for Spitting on Sidewalk“and see video at TBO.com

Warning:  This piece is riddled with personal opinion, sarcasm, insults, political incorrectness, bad attitude, and a little foul language, but it does provide a nice handful of important information as well.  Enjoy!

Joseph Stoiber, a self-proclaimed insomniac, was out for an early a.m. stroll, talking on his cell phone, when a police officer approached him and questioned his motives for…gasp…walking around a supposedly free country.  The officer asked to pat him down, as he legally has the right to do, even though it is absurd and repugnant to the Constitution, but Joseph Stoiber refused, as he has every legal right to do because the cop had no probable cause.  The cop and the Stoiber started disputing the really simple, obvious legality of  Stoiber, an American citizen guilty of no crime, nor suspicious of committing any crime, walking about his own country in the morning hours and refusing a warrantless search.

“Things got heated” (read: Cop’s ego couldn’t handle legally being told “no” by a lowly citizen) and Stoiber was handcuffed.  He then committed the unthinkable crime of spitting on a sidewalk because he had chewing tobacco in his mouth.   Stoiber was then arrested, because it is illegal to spit on the sidewalk in Florida

China says it’s wary of U.S. plan to focus on Pacific military power

4 Jun
CNN’s Liz Neisloss contributed to this report.

The United States is “not in step with the times” in seeking to bolster its military presence in the Pacific region, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry said Monday.

Spokesman Lie Weimin’s statement comes on the heels of the weekend announcement by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta that 60% of the U.S. naval fleet will sail the Pacific by 2020.

The change is part of President Barack Obama’s decision to reorient the United States’ strategic attention to the economically vital Pacific after a decade of war in the Middle East.

The fleet is currently divided evenly between the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans, Panetta said.

Weimin welcomed a U.S. role in the region, so long as the country respects the interests of China and other countries there. But he said the trend in Asia today is peace and cooperation, not military buildup.

“Deliberate emphasis on military and security agendas, and strengthening military deployment and alliances are not in step with the times,” he said.

Obama announced the shift to a Pacific focus during a tour of Asian countries in November.

The announcement came against a backdrop of reduced defense spending as the United States was dealing with economic issues at home, preparing to pull out of Iraq and contemplating the end of warfare in Afghanistan.

“As we end today’s wars, I have directed my national security team to make our presence and missions in the Asia Pacific a top priority,” Obama said in a November 17 speech in Australia. “As a result, reductions in U.S. defense spending will notI repeat, will not — come at the expense of the Asia Pacific.”

Obama Abandons Hope & Change, Embraces John McCain To Portray Romney As Right Wing Nut

Obama Embraces John McCain To Draw Contrast With Mitt Romney Ahead Of 2012 Election | Huffington Post

June 4, 201215 Militants Killed in Suspected US Drone Strike in Pakistan | CNN

(This blog post was written before the above headline broke.  This would bring total deaths from U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan this year to an estimated   117 to 132, making it the the  20th U.S. drone attack on Pakistan in 2012.)

Rick Loomis/Los Angeles Times/MCT Newscom

An alternate title I came up with is “Obama Wants to Make McCain Look Cool To Make Romney Look Even More Uncool; Meanwhile U.S. At War With Pakistan.”   I say war because Obama has ordered 19 drone strikes just this year, killing between 102 and 117 people.  That is an act of war, but since no official has announced it, it just doesn’t exist, I suppose.    2 + 2=4, I promise.

I really loathe politicians and their expensive political theater, but I thought this was an interesting piece because it calls out the real reasons behind Obama’s uncomfortably fuzzy embrace of McCain.  It is obviously a ploy, with the goal being to paint Romney as a right wing extremist.  If they’re trying to propagate  the image of Romney being an extremist who actually wants to live by The Constitution, they have their work cut out for them.  If they want to shape his character into an extremist who is an uneducated racist,  constantly talks about guns, and hates anyone who isn’t Christian, they have their work cut out for them.

It’s true, You Really Can’t Speak Poorly of Obama

31 May

Fox News Says Obama Video Not Authorized – WSJ.com.

I guess it’s true, you really can’t speak ill of Obama.

Fox news released an anti-Obama video that hadn’t been authorized at the senior level, so it only ran twice before senior members banned it.

This blows my mind.  I know Fox is controlled by the giant mega media companies, so this shouldn’t be a surprise, but Fox using self-censorship when it comes to opinions on Obama is bizarre.  They’re making it seem like someone did something criminal by making the video, when in reality it is essentially a non-story, besides the fact that it demonstrates censorship and the attempts to eliminate dissent.

This makes me want to vomit.  Where are we?  To say we’re not in Kansas anymore doesn’t capture the gravity of our situation.  How long will I even have this blog before it is shut down?

FOX | Obama threatens to veto DOJ budget because it blocks Fast and Furious gun control law

29 May

Fox reports Obama’s threat to veto a DOJ appropriations bill passed by House Republicans because it blocks a gun control law, passed by the administration by using the Fast and Furious conspiracy.  In November 2011 Senator Feinstein said “My concern, Mr. Chairman, is there’s been a lot said about Fast and Furious, and perhaps mistakes were made, but I think this hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem,” “And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything: .50-caliber weapons, sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts and send them down to Mexico. So, the question really becomes, what do we do about this?”

The above sentence should read “And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything: .50-caliber weapons, sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts and send them down to Mexico when the BATF tells the gun dealers to allow illegal sales. “
Feinstein has continued to use Fast and Furious as a reference and talking point in creating more gun control legislation.  The audacity of taking a corrupt government conspiracy and using it to pass gun grabbing laws is bewildering.  This administration, much like the last, has no shame and has made it clear it will do what it wants when it wants, and none of them will suffer any consequences.

Details of Torture by The U.S. Government Will Continue to Be A Secret

27 May

AP Photo

The topic of torture by the U.S. government has been brought to the surface once again since The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York upheld the decision to withhold information concerning the treatment of detainee Abu Zubaydah, even though cables exist that describe waterboarding torture and a photo of the “high value” detaineee, Zubaydah. This came about as part of a long-running lawsuit brought by ACLU.

Teacher Yells at Student for Obama Question, Says He Can Be Arrested For Disrespecting President

23 May

It’s amazing that people wonder why our children have such terrible test scores.  The “disrespectful” student in the video should have been teaching the class.

The student had the nerve to ask his teacher, “Didn’t Obama bully someone?”   The teacher exploded, shrieking and stumbling over her words with grammar so poor, it made me wonder how she ever made it past 8th grade.  To know that people like this woman are “qualified” to teach and mold our children is horrifying. But to be completely honest, I did laugh, partially from disbelief and discomfort, and partially due to the utter stupidity and the fact that it was caught on tape.
