News That Proves We’re Screwed – The Fall of The Republic UPDATED

30 Aug

The corrupt shadow government is unveiled a little more each week.

Two Cheers for Syrian Islamists (ForeignPolicy.com)

It is not a secret that the U.S. government is funding Syrian rebels, who include members of Al Qaeda, but this may be the first time they have openly called for “two cheers” in praise of the radical Islamic Jihadists fighting against the Assad regime. I find it odd that the title is so complimentary, yet in the article it specifically says, “Of course, Syrian Islamists are no friends of the United States–merely the enemies of one of its enemies.” This is like smiling while delivering horrible news of betrayal. When I read that, I got this picture in my head of a woman smiling as she says to her friend “Let’s go celebrate your marriage with ice cream! Of course, your husband is cheating on you.” Backwards is forwards, up is down, wrong is right, logic is insanity.

Bill Gross: “Normal” Economic Growth Impossible Now (moneymorning.com)

“Legendary market maven Bill Gross, the so-called “King of Bonds,” said investors will flat-out lose money if they continue employing the “buy and hold” strategies of the past.

“In his August Investment Outlook, Gross told investors that “financial repression, QEs of all sorts and sizes” and low interest rates will “dominate the timescape” for decades, maybe longer.

Investors must adjust to the new world order to avoid being the loser in this zero-growth environment, Gross warned.

“Ultimately, Gross said, the stock market’s historical, inflation-adjusted 6.6% annual growth rate is unsustainable.

“Gross, of course, is a bond man.

“In March, he launched an ETF version of his popular Pimco Total Return Fund (PTTRX) – the world’s biggest mutual fund, with more than $260 billion in assets. The Pimco Total Return ETF (NYSE: BOND) quickly attracted $2.1 billion in total deposits and has outpaced the S&P 500 by more than 5% so far.

“But even bonds – both government-backed and corporate – can’t escape the realities of a no-growth economy.

According to global economic trend forecaster Chris Martenson, a former VP of a Fortune 300 company, the historical growth rates investors have come to expect – in every asset class – are no longer mathematically possible.

“Right now, there are dangerous economic constraints,” he said, “mainly created by failed government policies, which show exponential growth in our markets is impossible.”

Exclusive: U.S. banks told to make plans for preventing collapse | Reuters (chicagotribune.com)

(Reuters) – U.S. regulators directed five of the country’s biggest banks, including Bank of America Corp and Goldman Sachs Group Inc, to develop plans for staving off collapse if they faced serious problems, emphasizing that the banks could not count on government help.

The two-year-old program, which has been largely secret until now, is in addition to the “living wills” the banks crafted to help regulators dismantle them if they actually do fail. It shows how hard regulators are working to ensure that banks have plans for worst-case scenarios and can act rationally in times of distress.

Brandon J. Raub, Former Marine, Detained After Anti-Government Facebook Postings (Huffington Post)

Marine Veteran Brandon Raub Sentenced To Up To 30 Days In Psych Ward Over Facebook Posts (businessinsider.com)

Excerpt:

“Lawyers from The Rutherford Institute represented Brandon Raub during the three-hour hearing today at the John Randolph Medical Center and released a statement, saying Raub has been ordered to “up to 30 days’ further confinement in a VA psych ward” after “government officials againpointed to Raub’s Facebook posts as the sole reason for their concern and for his continued incarceration.”

“According to Raub’s mother, authorities from the FBI, Secret Service and Chesterfield County PD came to their door on Thursday evening, questioned Raub about his Facebook posts, then handcuffed him and placed him in a Chesterfield PD squad car before taking him to John Randolph Psychiatric Hospital in Hopewell, Va.”

“Both the FBI and Secret Service said Raub was not arrested or charged, but the Rutherford Institute statement points out that “if the police have put handcuffs on you and you’re being held against your will, that qualifies as an arrest.”

Police use Taser on deaf crime victim | Kirotv.com

6 Aug

By KIRO 7 Investigative Reporter Chris Halsne

TACOMA, Wash. —

KIRO TV’s investigative unit has discovered Tacoma police used force to arrest and handcuff an innocent deaf woman after she called 911 for their help.

Instead of an apology, she ended up bloody and in jail for nearly three days without an interpreter before a prosecutor declined to press charges.

After months of digging, investigative reporter Chris Halsne found significant discrepancies in the official police version of events leading up to Lashonn White’s arrest.

Late in the evening on April 6, White said she called for police assistance after a guest reportedly attacked her in her own apartment.

Deaf since birth, White used a special video-equipped phone, connected to a TV and a Web camera, to call 911. A certified American Sign Language interpreter on the other end verbally relayed White’s pleas for help to a Tacoma police dispatcher.

“I said, ‘Please hurry! There’s a person here beating me up,’” White explained to Halsne during a television interview last month.

A recording of White’s 911 call from that evening reveals her urgency.

“Right now! This is serious!”

“She’s fighting at me, then she chokes me. She’s coming right at me!”

Computer-aided dispatch (CAD) logs show Tacoma police officer Ryan Koskovich and his partner, Michael Young, were outside White’s apartment complex in about six minutes.

It also reflects that officers received texts along the way stating, “Person doing the hitting is a Sophia” and “Vict. is Lashonn White.”

In addition, it appears from internal police records obtained by KIRO Team 7 Investigators, Koskovich and his partner were repeatedly given information that the victim could not hear a thing.

On the 911 calls, White herself made it perfectly clear.

“I’m deaf.  I can’t hear if they’re out front knocking or whatever … I can’t—are they going to the front or back? Where are the police at?”

Dispatch: “They want her to go outside the front door.”

“Oh, they’re here? Okay, I’m on my way to meet them. I’m going right now.”

12-year-old tased inside Victoria’s Secret | ksdk.com

2 Aug

By Mike Rush

South St. Louis County (KSDK) – A police officer tased a 12-year-old girl inside a Victoria’s Secret Wednesday afternoon at South County Center.

Police say the officer came into the Victoria’s Secret looking for the teenager’s mom, who had warrants for her arrest. But it was the teen who got tased.

“This one goes in my chest. It was stuck in there so she had to keep on pulling trying to pull it out,” said Dejamon Baker, as she pointed to a small wound on her chest.

Baker has a matching wound on her stomach.

“I had fell on the floor and I couldn’t control myself I just kept on shaking and stuff,” said the girl.

Baker, her mother Charlene Bratton, and some other relatives were in the Victoria’s Secret.

Bratton had just tried on some shorts and was about to buy them when she says a St. Louis County officer came looking for her. Bratton had warrants, she says, for numerous unresolved traffic tickets.

“He said, put your hands behind your back. I said for what. Next thing you know he tackled me down on the ground,” said Bratton.

Baker said, “I was just crying. I guess he got mad because I was crying or something, then he just took it out and just tased me.”

Marine Corps creates law enforcement battalions

By JULIE WATSON

Associated Press

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) — The Marine Corps has created its first law enforcement battalions – a lean, specialized force of military police officers that it hopes can quickly deploy worldwide to help investigate crimes from terrorism to drug trafficking and train fledgling security forces in allied nations.

The Corps activated three such battalions last month. Each is made up of roughly 500 military police officers and dozens of dogs. The Marine Corps has had police battalions off and on since World War II but they were primarily focused on providing security, such as accompanying fuel convoys or guarding generals on visits to dangerous areas, said Maj. Jan Durham, commander of the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion at Camp Pendleton.

The idea behind the law enforcement battalions is to consolidate the military police and capitalize on their investigative skills and police training, he said. The new additions come as every branch in the military is trying to show its flexibility and resourcefulness amid defense cuts.

Marines have been increasingly taking on the role of a street cop along with their combat duties over the past decade in Iraq and Afghanistan, where they have been in charge of training both countries’ security forces. Those skills now can be used as a permanent part of the Marine Corps, Durham said.

The war on terror has also taught troops the importance of learning how to gather intelligence, secure evidence and assist local authorities in building cases to take down criminal networks. Troops have gotten better at combing raid sites for clues to help them track insurgents.

They also have changed their approach, realizing that marching into towns to show force alienates communities. Instead, they are being taught to fan out with interpreters to strike up conversations with truck drivers, money exchangers, cellphone sellers and others. The rapport building can net valuable information that could even alert troops about potential attacks.

Police accused in 3 Twin River cases – WPRI.com

9 Jul

Here is just one example of how the government impacts the health of the people while keeping us all safe. Donna Levesque, April Lima, and Daniel Finn can attest to how tender and loving the government’s hand really is. Coma, brain damage, shattered bones? Sounds like top notch care to me.

WPRI.com

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) – Lincoln police officers are now accused in three alleged excessive force incidents involving Twin River customers who claim they were seriously injured by the officers.

Two of the three confrontations were caught on video. Edward Krawetz is seen kicking Donna Levesque in the head in May, 2009 in front of the slot parlor. Krawetz was convicted of felony battery in January. His sentence did not include time in the ACI.

The 20-year veteran, who was convicted of misdemeanor assault in 2001, is fighting to keep his job through a Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights hearing that is scheduled to continue in August.

Before the Krawetz case, on December 30, 2007, April Lima alleges she was “slammed face first into the casino floor” by two Lincoln police officers. She was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest but the charges were later dismissed. Her lawsuit was filed in December, 2010 after the criminal case was completed.

The third case involves Daniel Finn, 42, of Pawtucket, whose attorney, Mark Dana, sent the town of Lincoln notice of intent to file a lawsuit last week. The town has 40 days to respond before an actual lawsuit is filed in court.

Finn claims he was left in a coma from injuries allegedly caused by three officers during an arrest at Twin River last November. According to Lincoln police reports, officers allege Finn threatened police and hurt himself by banging his head inside a police car. Finn has not been charged.

According to Dana, Finn has “permanent brain damage” from the injuries.

Lima’s attorney, Kevin Bristow, said the injuries were caused during a struggle while she was being handcuffed by one of the officers. He said Twin River surveillance video shows Lima being thrown to the floor. Since then, she has been operated on twice for a shattered tibia and injuries to her MCL and ACL.

A total of six officers are allegedly involved in the three incidents and one of those officers is named in both the Lima and Finn documents.

Levesque has not filed a lawsuit. Dana was unavailable for comment. Bristow said he is limited on what he can say but he does see a possible connection that ties the three incidents together.

“The failure here is systemic. The officers are not trained to handle the types and volume of cases they encounter at Twin River,” said Bristow.

Target 12 reached out to Twin River, Lincoln Police and the Lincoln town administrator but none of them would comment on the incidents.
